Proposed effective date: 27 October 2026
Sikkim GeoTag Camera is developed by Labun Hang Limboo, an independent software developer from Sikkim, India. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the Android application.

Information the app uses
The app requests camera access to take photographs. It requests foreground precise or approximate location access to add a location to photographs while you use the camera.
It does not request background location or track your location in the background. You can change either permission in Android Settings. You can take an explicitly untagged photograph if a usable location is unavailable or you choose not to include one.
The app uses the device date and time when preparing the photograph. For a tagged photograph, it uses the location fix, estimated accuracy and, when available and sufficiently reliable, sea-level altitude.
The app keeps the current location fix in memory during foreground camera use; it does not send diagnostic reports or precise location logs to a developer-operated server.
Photographs and location metadata
Photographs are processed on your device. A tagged photograph contains coordinates in its EXIF metadata even when the visible location panel is turned off.
The visible panel can include coordinates, date, time, estimated accuracy, optional place name and reliable altitude. An explicitly untagged photograph has no location metadata added by this app. A photograph’s visible scene can still reveal where it was taken.
An unfinished or latest-photo draft is held in the app’s private storage until it is replaced or discarded, or until you clear app data or uninstall the app. If image processing must be retried, private app settings can temporarily retain the proposed information-panel text, including coordinates, with that draft.
When you save a photograph, the app writes a copy to your device’s Pictures/Sikkim GeoTag gallery folder. A saved gallery photograph remains there until you or a service you use deletes it; clearing app data or uninstalling the app does not remove that gallery copy.
The app disables backup of its private app data. Your device’s gallery or cloud-backup settings may separately back up saved photographs.
Location and optional place-name services
On compatible devices, the app obtains foreground location through Google Play services Fused Location Provider. It can fall back to Android device location providers.
Depending on your device settings, those providers may use satellites, Wi-Fi or mobile networks and may process information under their own privacy practices. The app does not operate those device services.
Place-name lookup is optional and off until you opt in. If you enable it, the app passes the captured coordinates to Android Geocoder to request an approximate administrative place name.
The device’s configured geocoding provider may receive those coordinates over the internet and process them under its own terms and privacy policy. The provider may differ by device.
The app does not send the photograph for this lookup, does not keep a place-name lookup cache and does not operate a geocoding server.
You can turn Place names off in Settings; coordinate capture and tagging can continue without it. A lookup may fail or return an approximate or inaccurate name.
Sharing and third parties
The app does not automatically upload your photographs to the developer. If you select Share, it first saves the photograph and then passes its content URI to the app you choose through Android’s share menu with temporary read access.
The shared file may contain its visible stamp and location metadata. The receiving app, and any gallery or cloud-backup app you use, handles the file under its own privacy policy and settings. Opening the developer website uses your browser.
The app uses AndroidX, CameraX and Google Play services Location components. It has no account registration, advertisements, analytics SDK, subscriptions or paid features in the audited version.
This does not mean that device services, the optional geocoding provider, your browser, or an app you share with process no information; their behavior is governed by their own services and policies.
Your choices and retention
You can deny or revoke camera and location permissions in Android Settings, disable optional place names in the app’s Settings, choose an untagged capture, discard a draft, and delete saved photographs from your device’s gallery.
Disabling a setting does not erase photographs already saved or shared. The app does not maintain a developer-operated account or photograph archive from which to delete your files. Device services and recipient apps control their own retention.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated if the app’s behavior or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be made available at the published policy URL.
